Abstract
1,192,911. Reciprocating motors. HAMILTON TOOL & GAUGE Ltd. 5 May, 1967 [15 March, 1966], No. 11291/66. Heading H2A. [Also in Division F1] A diaphragm pump comprises a diaphragm connected to an armature forming part of apparatus for producing reciprocating motion, the apparatus further comprising an arrangement for producing a magnetic field and two alternately energizable coils supplied from an astable multivibrator circuit, whereby the armature is alternately actuated in opposite directions by the interaction of the magnetic field and the fields of the coils when energized. A stator 53, Fig. 4, includes a coil 50 or permanent magnet producing a field which interacts with two coils forming the two halves of a bifilar winding 51 mounted on an armature 70 connected to a diaphragm 35. The pump housing includes two one-way valves 32, 33. In a modification, Fig. 3, the armature 1 comprises a permanent magnet part 2 and two non- magnetic parts 3, 4 and co-acts with two stationary coils 6, 7 which may form two halves of a single winding which may be bifilar wound. The speed of reciprocation may be altered and the currents fed to the two coils may be varied independently of one another by altering capacitors and resistors in the multivibrator circuit.
