Abstract

1,192,563. Voltage tester - ohmmeter. HOUILLERES DU BASSIN DE LORRAINE. July 10, 1967 [Sept. 5, 1966], No. 31619/67. Heading G1U. A measuring and checking instrument comprises, in a common case, an A. C. voltage tester circuit 1, a tester checking device 20, an ohmmeter circuit 5 and a low voltage D.C source 3; the tester circuit incorporating an indicator 8a, which may be a meter or neon tube, connected between an external prod 6 and a terminal 9 of the checking device. The checking device has an input connectible to one source terminal through a switch 4a, the other terminal being directly connected to the other source terminal. In use, the same source supplies the ohmmeter circuit. The checking device comprises a transistorized oscillator energized from the source 3. In use, before measuring the resistance of high voltage lines with the ohmmeter, it is normal to check with the tester that the voltage is disconnected. The checking device enables the tester to be first checked. In a modification the same indicator may be used for both tester and ohmmeter circuits, appropriate switching arrangements being provided.
