[Also in Division C1] Hydrofluoric acid is purified by passing technical grade gaseous hydrofluoric acid through activated carbon and a post chlorinated P.V.C. mesh carrying a static charge which is obtained by passage of the gas through the filter, dissolving the gaseous hydrofluoric acid in water having an electrical resistance of 10-15 gemohm/cm, treating the solution so formed with solutions of mannitol and potassium permanganate and distilling the resultant solution.
