Abstract

1,192,360. Printing surfaces. COURTAULDS Ltd. 27 Sept., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 43356/66. Heading B6C. [Also in Division B5] Printing rollers for the gravure process are produced by rotational casting of a liquid capable of forming a solid polymer in a cylindrical mould to form a liner of the solid polymer and then forming the roller as a shell within the liner from a second charge of a liquid capable of forming a solid polymer, removing the shell and liner together and then peeling them apart. The roller may have a raised or indented design thereon formed from an inverse relief pattern inside the liner, the pattern being gelatin and photographically produced.
