1,191,848. Beverage dispensing machine. FISHOLOW PRODUCTS Ltd. 1 Feb., 1968 [5 Nov., 1966], No. 49682/66. Heading A4D. [Also in Division F4] A water heater, in or for a beverage dispensing machine, eg of the type disclosed in Specification 1,024,161, comprises a vessel 14 containing an electric heating element 16, controlled by a thermostat 17, the heating element, when in use, being immersed in the water to be heated, an inlet pipe (not shown) and an outlet pipe 31 extending from an electrically operated rotary pump 25. The impeller unit of the pump may be mounted within the vessel or the pump may have an inlet pipe which projects into the vessel, the impeller unit being mounted externally of the vessel. The outlet pipe may extend upwardly from the pump and include a downwardly inclined portion from which the water discharges into a mixing chamber (not shown), in which hot water is mixed with dry beverage ingredients, so that when the pump ceases to operate, the water in the outlet pipe between the pump and the downwardly inclined portion will flow back to the vessel via the pump. There may be a second pump to deliver hot water to a second mixing chamber. Floats 35 and 36 have operating arms 37 and 38 respectively which control the microswitches 39 and 40 which control the supply of water to the vessel. A second thermostat may be present to act as an "over-temperature" switch.
