Abstract
1,191,114. Lubricant for cold-rolling copper. BRITISH NON-FERROUS METALS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 13 June, 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 27986/67. Heading C5F. A lubricant for cold-rolling copper comprises a one-phase aqueous solution of an ampholytic surface-active compound of the formula or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof, wherein R is H or C 1 -C 5 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is a C 8 -C 22 aliphatic radical which may contain one or more ethylenic double bonds. A preferred surface-active compound is N-coco beta-amino butyric acid (where coco represents the mixture of aliphatic radicals in the fatty acids of coconut oil) which may be used in amount 0À1-1À0% by wt. The water used is preferably deionized or soft water. The solution may contain corrosion inhibitors, e.g. NaNO 2 or an antifoaming agent, e.g. an organo-silicone polymer.
