Abstract

1,190,938. Opening lids. CHISWICK PRODUCTS Ltd. 4 July, 1967 [28 Nov., 1966]. No. 53213/66. Heading B8P. A container, suitable for shoe polish and the like, may be formed of tinplate and comprises a lid 11 and a body 12. The lid has four indentations 13, 14 around its upper periphery and skirt, forming projections of arcuate shape. When depressed in the region of an indentation 17, the lid 11 tilts about an axis formed by the projections 14, and is stopped by the indentation 17 abutting on the edge 18 of the body wall, thereby preventing the lid sliding off the body when the container is opened. The projections 13 seat on the edge of the body when the container is closed. A boss (16), Fig. 1 (not shown) may be provided for depressing the lid 11, and the lid may also have a raised bead (19), Fig. 4 (not shown), to co-operate with the base of a similar container to facilitate stacking. The wall of the body part may have a groove (23), Fig. 3 (not shown), to accommodate the edge of the lid when the container is opened, and the edges of the lid and of the body may be beaded. The lid may also be of convex shape, Fig. 9 (not shown).
