Abstract
1,190,125. I.C. engine valve gear. TSENTRALNY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY AVTOMOBILNY I AVTOMOTORNY INSTITUT. July 10, 1968, No.32906/68. Heading F1B. A clearance adjusting screw 5 in a rocker 6 is loaded by a torsion spring 10 and has its angle of rotation limited by a member 4 which engages the rocker. The screw 5 has a non-thrust thread, i.e. a thread with a pitch angle such that the tangent of the pitch angle is greater than the coefficient of friction between the thread on the screw and the mating thread in the rocker 6. During valve opening the U-shaped member 4 and the screw 5 rotate, due to frictional engagement therebetween, until the inner surfaces B on the member engage the surfaces C on the rocker 6. When the valve is re-seated the spring 10 rotates the screw 5 and member 4 until the valve gear clearances are taken up.
