Abstract

1190166 Randomly wound coil WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 10 June 1968 [8 Aug 1967(2)] 27471/68 Heading H1P [Also in Divisions B3 and H2] A coil comprises a randomly wound coil of wire on a spool which is subsequently encapsulated in an insulating material. A voltage coil for an electric meter is formed on a ribbed spool 14, the ends of the coil being held in solderless connectors 27, 27a in pockets 35, 35a on the flange of the spool. The wound spool is then placed in a mould and encapsulated using a vacuum moulding technique, Fig. 2 (not shown). The encapsulation material may be nylon, polyester or epoxy resin containing glass fibre filler. A terminal assembly comprises a sheet of brass as in Fig. 5, which is used to make solderless connections.
