A rubber spring, e.g. for a vehicle suspension has components of differing flexibility so as to function over a range of loads. One end at least of the basic spring part 2, 3 is provided with an end member 9, 10 containing lateral slots 11 which make it highly flexible under light loads. However, when the slots 11 are fully compressed the spring rate is virtually that of the basic spring part. A plate or washer 12, 13 may be provided as a limiting member so that the flexibility of the spring decreases more sharply after a predetermined load. The basic spring part may be formed in two pieces with a metal plate 4 disposed therebetween.
