Abstract

1,189,251. Artificial eyelashes. F. E. GLASER. 3 Jan., 1968, No. 377/68. Heading A4V. Artificial eyelashes are formed from a portion of a feather, the base of the lash being either a strip of water-insoluble adhesive or a piece of the shaft of the feather. In Fig. 11, a line of liquid adhesive 20 is applied to the barbs 12 of the feather along or close to the shaft 14, and when it has set, the band of adhesive with the embedded barbs is cut from the rest of the feather and divided into appropriate lengths. In Fig 18, the adhesive band 52 is applied in an arc near the tip of a round-ended feather, cut off as before and the resulting lash trimmed at 54. Alternatively a feather may be divided along the shaft, either through the shaft or by removing the barbs therefrom on one side only, the shaft or section thereof with the attached barbs being divided into lengths suitable for use as eyelashes. The eyelashes are attached to the eyelid by use of a conventional adhesive.
