Abstract
1,188,768. Couplings; two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 4 Dec., 1968 [17 Jan., 1968], No. 57477/68. Heading H2E. Leads 2 from an integrated circuit 1 are locked in holes in an adapter against conductors 9 by wedges 19 which, after insertion in the holes, are broken off at necks 21 from an integral strip 15. Wedges 19 are serrated on one or both sides. Holes 17 above each wedge 19 allow the strip to buckle when the wedges are inserted and thus equalize contact pressure in the case of unevenly sized holes in the adapter. Conductors 9 are strips either having one or both ends (Fig. 2, not shown) passing through the adapter body 3 to form plugs 6 or 6 and (60). In the latter case, one plug may be replaced by a solder tag. They are retained by twisting the strip through 90 degrees at the junction with the underside of the adapter body 3. A plurality of adapters are secured to a substrate 4 by rivets 5.
