Abstract

1,188,517. Cleaning pipes. HYDRAULIC WATER RAM CO. Ltd. 10 Oct., 1967 [12 July, 1966], No. 31273/66. Heading F2N. Apparatus for plugging an opening in a side wall 4 of a shaft 1, comprises a strut 11 pivotally connected at one end thereof to a plug 10, the plug being forced into and retained in the opening by forcing the other end of the strut along the opposite wall 3 of the shaft. As shown, the strut is connected to a shoe 12 which has also attached thereto an operating rod 13, and the tapered rubber body 20 of the plug has a tube 14 passing therethrough and connected to a hose 15. With the plug positioned in a downstream pipe section 6, compressed air is released through the hose 15 to clear a blockage in the pipe. The plug may be in the form of an inflatable bag.
