Abstract

1,188,197. d-Lysergic acid derivatives. SANDOZ Ltd. 11 Oct., 1967, No. 46487/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of general Formula I in which R 1 signifies an aralkyl radical having from 7 to 9 carbon atoms or an aryl radical, whereby the aryl radical may be substituted by one or more of the following radicals: methyl alkoxy having 1-4 carbon atoms, chlorine or bromine, and their acid addition salts. They are obtained by reacting a functional derivative of an acid of general Formula II with a compound of general Formula III in which R 1 has the above significance, and when an acid addition salt is required, the resulting compound of Formula I is reacted with an organic or inorganic acid. The acid chloride hydrochloride, the acid azide or the mixed anhydride with sulphuric acid may be used as the functional acid derivatives. Pharmaceutical compositions containing as active ingredients one of the compounds claimed and having anti-depressant activity are administered orally, parenterally or rectally.
