Abstract

1,188,186. Fluorocarbon - amide - acrylate adducts. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. 7 June, 1967 [8 June, 1966], No. 26245/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a process in which a primary or secondary fluorocarbon amide is reacted with an acrylic or methacrylic acid ester to give an adduct in which a hydrogen atom from an amide group of the fluorocarbon amide and the remainder of that compound add across the C = C of the ester and a single C-C linkage is formed. Particularly preferred adducts have the general formula where R f is a fluorocarbon group of up to 25 C atoms, preferably 3-18 C atoms, Q is -CO- or -SO 2 -, R<SP>1</SP> is H or methyl, R<SP>11</SP> is C 1-18 alkyl, R is H or C 1-6 alkyl or -CH 2 C(R<SP>1</SP>)- HCO 2 R<SP>11</SP>. In the Examples: (1) C 8 F 17 SO 2 N- (C 2 H 5 )H, (2) C 8 F 17 SO 2 NH 2 and (3) C 5 F 11 CONH 2 are reacted with CH 2 = CHCO 2 C 2 H 5 to give and
