An index card filing cabinet, having a pair of spaced plates 3 supporting between them a number of index card carriers 1 on pivoted pins 2 and mounted for rotation in split bearing bushings 5, 6 on a horizontal shaft 4, is provided with a split cabinet casing 8, 10 such that the height h of the lower cabinet casing 8 can be passed through office doors when the lower cabinet casing 8 is turned on its side following removal of the upper cabinet casing 10 and dismantling of the bushings 5, 6 and removal of the shaft 4.
