Abstract
1,186,270. L-Proline by fermentation. TANABE SEIYAKU CO. Ltd. 3 Nov., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 50060/67. Heading C2C. L-Proline is produced by fermenting a strain of Kurthia catenaforma or an auxotrophic mutant thereof in a fermentation broth and recovering the accumulated L-proline, preferably by adsorbtion or an ion exchange resin. Specified microorganisms are K. catenaforma ATCC 21144, and an L-serine-requiring mutant K. catenaforma FERM-P No. 391; the fermentation is preferably conducted at 25- 37‹ C. using a sugar, e.g. glucose, as the main carbon source, and the presence of aspartic acid gives increased yields of L-proline.
