Abstract
1,185,083. Shuttleless looms; face-to-face pile fabrics. J. B. BASART. 30 March, 1967 [31 March, 1966], No.14689/67. Heading DIE. A shuttleless loom weaves face-to-face pile fabric. Weft insertion. The wefts are laid by twin rapiers 16, 17 which enter the sheds empty and on withdrawal pull out weft from bobbins outside the loom. The rapiers 16, 17 are reciprocated in guides by a lever 20 which is pivoted by a link 23 and crank 24 which is rotated by a central motion 10. Beat-up. The reed 13 is oscillated by a pitman 14 pivoted to a member 12 reciprocated by the central motion 12. Let-off, take-up. The ground warp beam 30 is driven from the central motion 10 by way of chains and sprockets 132 to 136. The pile warp is pulled from the pile warp beams 34, 35 by a roller 36 driven from the motion 10 and the fabrics are taken up by rollers 71, 72 also driven from the motion 10. Shedding. Separate heald frames for each ground warp shed and the pile shed are operated by a dobby 45 chain driven from the motion 10. Pile cutting. The pile is cut by a reciprocating knife 67 driven by cords 105 and a drum 104 that is oscillated by a segment gear 96 driven by a crank 93 connected to the motion 10. The wefts are cut at the inlet side of the shed after they have been pulled from the bobbins by the inserters 16, 17.
