Abstract

1,184,128. Rasping tyres. NATIONAL STANDARD CO. 29 July, 1968 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 36182/68. Heading B4B. [Also in Divisions G3 and H2] A machine for rasping a tyre 15 prior to retreading comprises a rasp 26 driven by a motor 22 which is maintained at an optimum load by automatically controlling the speed of a cross feed motor 30. The machine also comprises a carriage 12 for a wheel motor 11 for rotating the tyre, a carriage 23 for the rasp motor which carriage is reciprocated by means of the motor 30 through a lead screw 31, the carriage 23 having clamped thereto a template 35 which is engaged by a roller 36 carried by the carriage 12. The machine further comprises a dust collector motor 27 and blower 28 for withdrawing tyre particles from a hood 29.
