Abstract

1,183,782. Printing apparatus. BEBOPLASTIK G.m.b.H. 26 Feb., 1968 [23 March, 1967], No. 9117/68. Heading B6C. The developed surfaces of articles with non- circular cross-sections are printed in a machine in which each article is mounted on a holder which is resiliently urged towards the printing surface which may either be the offset blanket of a rotary offset unit or the intaglio cylinder of an intaglio unit. In the described embodiment, holders 15 are rotatably mounted on an intermittently rotatable turret plate 7 and at the printing station each holder shaft 13 is aligned relative to the printing surface by a stop 4 on the machine frame engaging a square member 3 keyed to the shaft. Subsequent to such alignment the shaft is rotated through a friction disc 5, also keyed to the shaft, such that the locked holder, and hence the article, rotates through one complete revolution. The disc 5 and the article rotate through friction drive from the printing surface 25 which is an offset blanket segment resiliently mounted on a cylinder 10. If desired the disc 5 may be replaced by a toothed gear which engages similar teeth on the printing surface. The surface 25 may be an intaglio surface mounted on the cylinder 10.
