Abstract

1,182,828. Contacting gases with liquids. SARO PRODUCTS Ltd. 23 May, 1968 [9 June, 1967], No. 26693/67. Heading B1R. [Also in Division F4] A profiled sheet 1 is formed with two sets of bosses 5, 6, respectively of different heights and so disposed in the sheet that a plurality of the sheets may be close-nested in a first position, Fig. 4, and open-stacked in a second position, Fig. 3, a depression or cup 7 being formed in the flat upper surface of each boss such that when the sheets are stacked the cups interengage to locate the sheets. Sheets stacked in the open position, Fig. 3, are said to be of use particularly as packing in gas/liquid contact towers, the sheets being made of a rigid thermoplastic material (unspecified). When being stored or transported, the sheets are stacked in their close nested position, Fig. 4. The sheets may be formed additionally with raised areas e.g. 3 which at the base may be circular in outline (Fig. 5) or hexagonal (as shown). The invention is said to be applicable to sheets having uses other than in tower packings but these are not specified.
