Abstract

1,182,856. Expansion joints. VICTAULIC CO. Ltd. 5 Feb., 1969 [5 Feb., 1968], No. 5713/68. Heading F2G. The free end of a sleeve 2 defines with a pipe 1 an annular recess in which is disposed two seals 4, 5 axially spaced apart by a lantern gland ring 6. The latter may have radially inner and outer circumferential grooves connected by apertures and in communication with a lubricating oil container 9; alternatively, a dry lubricant such as molybdenum disulphide, graphite or polytetrafluoroethylene is provided on either side of the ring. Compression of the seals is effected by a follower ring 7 adjusted axially by bolts 8. The sleeve may be anchored to a foundation and be provided with a socket for the reception of a pipe at each end thereof.
