Abstract
1,181,262. Voltage stabilizers. ADVANCE ELECTRONICS Ltd. Sept.20, 1967, No.42844/67. Addition to 1, 096, 622. Heading G3X. An A.C. voltage stabilizing arrangement comprises:- a transformer 1 having a core 4 which in operation is unsaturated, a primary winding 2 and a secondary winding 6; output terminals 7 connected directly to the winding 6; a circuit including a linear inductor 9 and a saturable inductor 8 connected across the winding 6, this circuit operating as described in Specification 1, 096, 622 so that the output voltage at terminals 7 is stabilized against input voltage variations; and a further circuit arranged to reduce the proportion of harmonics of the supply frequency present in the output voltage. As shown the further circuit comprises a first series combination of a capacitor 10 and an inductor 11 tuned to one harmonic, e.g. the third, and a second series combination 12, 13 tuned to another harmonic, e.g. the fifth. In a second embodiment Fig.2 (not shown) a compound inductor is associated with the secondary winding 6, the compound inductor having a first winding associated with a core portion which is saturated in operation and a harmonic-compensating second winding on a core portion which less readily saturable, the second winding being connected in series with a capacitor across the secondary winding 6.
