Abstract
1,180,915. Non-metallic tubes; tube couplings. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 4 May, 1967 [7 May, 1966], No. 20308/66. Headings F2G and F2P. [Also in Division El] Radial expansion of a rubber tube 10 having an inner lining 12 of polyurethane elastomer is, on internal pressuring occurring, controlled by the layers of steel cord 11 incorporated in the tube, the layers being so helically wound that the helix angle of each layer increases the further the layer is from the axis of the tube. Adjacent layers of the steel cord may be of opposite hand. Protective split polyurethane elastomer sleeves 19 and rubber spacers 20 may be located on the outside of the tube 10. Pressure is applied to the inside of the tube through a closure having an externally corrugated spigot 13 and an internally corrugated sleeve 15.
