Abstract

1,180,561. Thermal storage heaters. J. H. ELLINGER. 10 Feb., 1967 [10 Nov., 1965]. No. 47797/65. Heading F4U. In a thermal storage heater in which the core material undergoes liquid/solid phase changes during normal use, metal conduction means are provided in the core to ease the conduction of heat from the centre to the outside of the core during cooling of the latter. As illustrated, a thermal storage space heater includes a fan 23 for blowing air through passages formed by a casing 18, a core container 14 and a partition 16. The core filling is a eutectic mixture of NaOH and NaNO 3 and the core container includes a conduction member 25 formed as a corrugated metal sheet with fins which contact the walls of the container. The member 25 is slightly inclined so that the fins are of varying height. The member 25 may be vertical and the fins may be horizontally slotted, Fig. 6 (not shown). The means for heating the core may be in contact with the conduction means. A corrugated annular sheet may be used in the annular core container of a water heater.
