Abstract

1,180,003. Pistons; circlips. FFSA. 14 May, 1968 [26 May, 1967], No. 22756/68. Headings F2H and F2T. In a piston for an I.C. engine the skirt 3 is connected to a tubular extension 4 of the piston head 1 by means of spacing members 5 which are circumferentially-spaced to permit the passage of casting cores. Upper and lower bearing surfaces 8, 9 and side bearing surfaces 10 are provided in the extension and skirt for the gudgeon pin. C-shaped circlips (15), Fig. 1 (not shown), engage within diametrically-opposed semi-circular grooves (16), (16a) in the upper and lower bearing surfaces.
