Abstract
1,179,946. Headsets. S. G. BROWN Ltd., and J. SLOAN. 16 Feb., 1968 [10 July, 1967], No. 31688/67. Heading H4J. A telephone headset comprises a flexible capshaped member 10 shaped to fit over a wearer's head and has a flexible tape or flexible tapes 12, 13, 14 carrying a receiver transducer 15 to hang against the ear of a user. Preferably a microphone transducer 20 is mounted in a flexible or resilient tube 21 in use having an open end 22 close to the wearer's mouth. A skull cap 10 with a hem 11 enclosing elastic has, sewn inside, tape 12 forming loops to which are adjustably tied tapes 13, 14 supporting receiver 15. Receiver 15 comprises a transducer element 16 mounted on flexible, self-supporting board 16 covered on one or both sides with foamed plastics material 18. Microphone transducer 20 is electrically connected by lead 23, and incoming and outgoing signals pass through a further lead 24. A cord 25 extends from the microphone transducer 20 through the tube 21 and is terminated by a rubber plug 26. Plug 26 fits into a further rubber tube 27 secured by tapes 28 to a tape 29 sewn inside the cap 10. When the plug 26 and tube 27 are secured, the transducer 15 is pulled against the ear and the padding 18 and board 17 conform to the ear to exclude outside sounds.
