Abstract
1,179,202. Change-speed control. L. M. A. BOLLAERT, and E. P. DILLON. 20 Sept., 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 44787/68. Heading F2D. A gearshift mechanism comprises a rotatable and axially slidable rod 18 fast with a sleeve member 19 which is operatively connected to a manual gear lever 12. The sleeve 9 has cups 20, 21 freely located therein, the cups being urged apart by a spring 23 to respectively engage a ball end 25 of the gear lever 12 and a ball 24 which engages guide grooves in a housing base-plate 1c. The guide grooves replace the usual gate. The gear lever 12 has an intermediate ball 10 accommodated in a socket portion of the housing and having diametrically opposite slots slidably receiving pivot pins provided on the housing.
