Abstract

1,179,117. Containers with windows. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15 Nov., 1967 [29 Nov., 1966], No. 53436/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] Containers having windows for observing the level of contents are made by moulding the walls in two layers, the outer being opaque and the inner being translucent, and removing a strip of the outer layer down part or the whole of a side wall, e.g. two strips at diametrically opposite positions. The container may be made by blow-moulding of a double-layered extrudate or by rotational casting or injectionmoulding in two layers. The layers may both be of polythene, the outer containing carbon black pigment. H.D. polythene may be used as the inner layer giving high stress crack resistance and L.D. polythene or the outer giving improved processability. Other materials mentioned are nylon, PVC and polypropylene.
