Abstract
1,177,100. Stabilized polyoxyalkylene compounds. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 29 Dec., 1967 [29 Dec., 1966; 1 Dec., 1967], No. 58995/67. Heading C3R. Homo- and copolymers of alkylene oxides and reaction products of alkylene oxides with active hydrogen compounds are stabilized by the addition of powdered manganese or of a manganese - containing compound. Specified manganese compounds are manganese (11) chloride, sulphate, nitrate, acetate and resinate, manganese dioxide and potassium permanganate. The metal, in powder form, preferably has a grain size of less than 150 Á. A solvent may be used to aid the admixture, and aqueous solutions are especially suitable. From 0À0005 to 5% of the stabilizer based on the weight of polymer is preferably used. Specified polymers are polyethylene oxide, polyethylene and polypropylene glycols and adducts of ethylene oxide with stearyl alcohol and with stearic acid.
