Abstract

1,176,978. Converting rotary to oscillatory motion. HOZELOCK Ltd. 29 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 49108/67. Headings F2K and F2Q. [Also in Division A1] A spray tube 37 provided with apertures 38 is oscillated through a pre-selected arc by means of a crank 18 to which tube 37 is connected through a hollow shaft 32, collar 31 and screw 30 which slidably engages in a slot 17, the crank 18 being oscillated about a pivotal mounting 19 by an eccentrically rotatable pin 16A which slidably engages in slot 17. The pivotal mounting 19 is eccentrically rotatable to and lockable in one of four pre-selected positions to control the amplitude of the oscillations, a control wheel 23 having four slots engageable by a latch 28 being provided for this purpose. In operation, water supplied to the spray impinges on a vane (not shown) which rotates a shaft 14, worm 13, worm-wheel 15 and stub shaft 16 on which pin 16A is mounted, causing the latter to rotate eccentrically and the spray tube 37 to oscillate.
