Abstract

1,176,213. Electric toaster. BRITISH DOMESTIC APLIANCES Ltd. 6 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22055/67. Heading A4D. An automatic electric toaster comprises a heating element and a bread carriage 5 mounted in guides, and is characterised by the provision of a substantially constant force spring 2 which urges the carriage 5 to an upper position to clear the bread free of the heating element, and a latch means to engage the carriage in a lower position to carry the bread in proximity to the heating element. The latch 11 can be disengaged mechanically by rotating the loading arm 6, or electrically by releasing the beam 12 from latch 11. (For Figure, see next page)
