Abstract
1,176,144. And-burst devices; preventing sagging of doors. WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd. 7 Dec., 1966 [11 Dec., 1965], No. 52716/65. Heading E2A. A member 1, which may be secured to a motor vehicle door pillar, is formed with a horizontally extending recess 6 for reception of a guide member 7, which may be secured to the door, a part 10 of the guide member being guided between surfaces 22 and 24 of member 1 and thereby vertically locating the door during closure thereof, a part 12 of the guide member and walls 19, 20 of member 1 constituting anti-burst means. As shown, a spring loaded wedge 25 is mounted in the recess for engagement with the part 12 to urge the part 10 into engagement with the surface 24 when the door is in its closed position. The upper surface of member 1 is formed with teeth 23 to engage the door catch member (not shown). In a modification, Figs. 7-9 (not shown), the spring loaded wedge is mounted in the upper part of the recess to urge the guide member downwardly into engagement with member 1 in the door-closed position, and the door catch member is a rotary toothed bolt.
