Abstract
1,176,001. Electro-photographic processes. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Jan.25, 1967 [Jan.27, 1966], No.3778/67. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic method by which an electro-photographic member may charged with either polarity irrespective of its preferred charge polarity includes applying to a photo-conductive layer an insulating liquid having a di-electric constant less than 5 which does not dissolve or swell the photo-conductive layer, before charging. Suitable liquids are stated to be apliphatic hydrocarbons, fluoronated hydrocarbons, chlorofluoronated hydrocarbons, polymethyl siloxanes and polar liquids such as ketones and esters. In one example (Example 1) an electrophotographic sheet prepared from a paper base coated with zinc oxides, epoxyester, and cobalt naphenate was partly covered with kerosene. The sheet was charged negatively and exposed to a light image and the latent image produced was developed with developer comprising carbon black disposed in kerosene to form a visible image. In another example (Example 2) the charging was positive instead of negative. A visible image resulted at the area covered with kerosene. In a further example (Example 3) the liquid developer consisted of cyanine green, kerosene, soya oil, and cyclohexane.
