1,176,043. Paint and varnish compositions. C. C. GOETZ. 6 Nov., 1967 [2 Aug., 1967], No. 50262/67. Heading C4A. A paint or varnish comprises a synthetic or natural resin dissolved in d or l-limonene. The d or l-limonene preferably constitutes at least 50% by weight of the total solvent, which may also comprise the optically inactive racemic mixture dl-limonene (dipentene) and up to 5% by weight, referred to the d or l-limonene, of ethanol, butanol, octanol, terpineol, heptane, octane, or a mixture thereof. Damar, mastic and copal resins are specified; the resin may amount to 0À1-66À7% by weight, preferably 10-50%, of the solvent.
