Abstract

1,175,824. Stacking laundry articles. H. J. WEIR. 6 Sept., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 39868/66. Heading B8C. Apparatus for stacking folded laundry articles includes an inclined platform 3 on to which the folded articles are deposited and a stop 4 retaining them in position until the platform withdraws, allowing them to fall on to the stack 7 below. The preferred operating means is a pneumatic ram 5 which has a valve arrangement 6, 11 whereby the side of the piston which is switched to exhaust when the table is withdrawn, is connected to atmosphere before the retraction commences, thus speeding up this movement. The exhaust line is closed just prior to the end of the stroke to provide buffer and return means from the entrapped air. A normally closed switch 13 is opened by the platform to provide the necessary movement of the solenoid operated valve 6. Articles are fed in from a folding machine (not shown) by a conveyer 1, the machine controlling the stacking. A counter initiates operation of a discharge pusher 7.
