Abstract

1,175,811. Braking yarn packages. HAMEL PROJEKTIERUNGS-UND VERWALTUNGS A.G. 27 May, 1968 [27 June, 1967], No. 25164/68. Headings D1D and D1J. A device for stopping a rotating thread supply bobbin acts directly on the surface of the yarn wound on the bobbin and is controlled by a device which detects yarn breakages. As shown the thread leaving a package 16 of a creel is sensed by breakage at 54. On breakage motion is transmitted through a linkage to pivot an arm 24 and bring a brake shoe 26 with tips 28 into braking contact with the package. A weight 58 may be fixed to shoe 26 and the motion transmitted through a spring 42 so that there is a delay in the operation to allow other parts of the machine e.g. the twisting spindle to be stopped. An electromagnetic delaying device may be used. The brakes of packages supplying yarn to a common station may be actuated simultaneously from a single thread breakage detector.
