Abstract
1,175,164. Bricklayer's guide. ZETCO ENG. & TOOL CO. Inc. 5 Feb., 1968, No. 5729/68. Heading E1S. A mason's guide comprises a horizontal member 10 either marked out in half-brick lengths, or having recesses 17 in the upper edge at half-brick intervals, along which can be moved a generally channel-sectioned member 30 having a vertical hole 36 in its front wall, through which passes the stem 42 of a tool 40 having an upper platform 44 with a dimension W corresponding to a brick length, the stem carrying a collar 50 which can be pinned at different positions up the stem. At each of these positions the lower surface 45 of the platform defines the upper level of a brick course, and the tool 40 can be moved up from this position and then forced down on top of the brick, which is aligned with the platform. The member 10 can be bolted to threaded inserts embedded in the mortar, as shown, or nailed thereto. A shim can be employed with the collar. The guide can be fixed to a frame structure requiring a brick veneer. The member 30 in the embodiment shown is fixed in position on member 10 by a downwardly spring- loaded wheel 32' engaging in a recess 17.
