Abstract

117,434. Horiuchi, H. May 17, 1918. Butt joints. - The outer edges of the pipes 1 and the inner edges of the flanges 2 are cut away at an angle of 45 degrees so that when the pipes are together an annular groove of square section is formed. A rubber or like packing-ring 5 placed in the groove is compressed and completely fills the groove when the union is screwed up. A similar construction is employed with screw union.
