Abstract

1,174,248. Washing powder composition. UNILEVER Ltd. 31 May, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 24942/66. Heading C5D. A washing powder composition comprises (i) a water-soluble salt of a C 8-22 fatty acid, (ii) the sulphate of the condensation product of lauryl alcohol (or a synthetic aliphatic alcohol with an average chain length of twelve carbon atoms) with one mole of ethylene oxide and (iii) from 1.5 to 6% of an unsubstituted amide of a C 10-16 substantially straight chain aliphatic acid, the weight ratio of (i): (ii) being 1: 3 to 3:1 and the total amount of (i) + (ii) being from 10 to 40%, all percentages being by weight of the powder. Suitably the composition also includes builders and non-soap detergents such as alkylbenzene sulphonates, alkanol sulphates, alkyl ether sulphates, ester sulphonates, amide sulphonates and acylated amino acids.
