Abstract
1,174,190. Salicylic acid. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 22 Nov., 1967, No. 53208/67. Heading C2C. Salicylic acid is obtained in a pure crystalline state by a process which comprises cooling to a crystallizing temperature a solvent solution of salicylic acid, thereby causing separation of solid salicylic acid from said solution, wherein the solvent is a mixture consisting essentially of phenol and water in proportions such that said solvent exists in two distinct liquid phases at said crystallizing temperature.
