Abstract

1,172,363. Flat roofs. WILLIAMS & WILLIAMS Ltd. 6 June, 1967 [6 June, 1966], No. 25128/66. Heading E1W. [Also in Division F4] In a roof structure a decking comprising a substantially flat horizontal sheet 5 of plywood or other resilient sheet material is superimposed and bonded by its lower surface upon flat crowns 4A of a horizontal corrugated sheet element 4 and is overlaid by a layer 7 of water impervious material which in turn is covered by a surface layer 8 of gravel, stone chippings or other granular water-insoluble material. The layer 8 serves to hold the layer, 7 in position whilst allowing limited movement of the layer 7 due to temperature and other changes. Water can flow through the layer 7 to one or more drainpipes or other water exits. The roof structure may comprise a raised edge portion 6A over which the layer 7 extends. The embodiment described includes a chimney 12 extending through an aperture formed in the roof structure, being defined therein by a pair of opposed generally funnel-shaped sleeves, Fig. 2 (not shown) of which the frusto conical portions carry at their wider ends annular flanges secured respectively to opposite faces of the sheet 5.
