Abstract

117,216. Burton, H. C. Dec. 18, 1917. Exercising - apparatus. - Relates to apparatus for exercising the muscles of the back, abdominal wall and lower extremities. A seat u is mounted on a support 3 pivoted at 4 to the base 2 and is connected by links 9 to hand-levers 7 pivoted to the base at 6. A quadrant 16 is formed with holes to receive a pin to limit the forward movement of the seat. A foot-rest 11 is adjustably mounted on supports 12. The upper ends of the levers 7 may 'be pivoted so that they can be folded backwards as indicated in dotted lines to allow access to the seat. In this case, a locking-device is provided to render the levers rigid. In use, the seat is oscillated by the operator by means of the handles.
