Abstract
1,171,766. Endless conveyers. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 31 Oct., 1966 [1 Nov., 1965], No. 32734/69. Divided out of 1,171,762. Heading B8A. Cigarettes are continuously removed from a supply 39 above a packaging machine, Fig. 3, and accelerated down a channel 41 by belts and rolls 46, 51, 52, 55, 58, 67, 73 and 74. The channel narrows in steps defined by rotating rolls 51 and 55 which project in the channel and thus accelerate and reduce the number of transverse rows simultaneously. The cigarettes are fed from the channel into a rotating annular hopper 8 their velocity being approximately the same as the hoppers, and are constrained from movement by an endless " snake chain " (751, Figs. 7 and 8) lying on the cigarettes around the hopper and raised at the hopper filling position by spring-loaded arms (752). The complete packaging machine is described in the parent Specification 1,171,762.
