Abstract
1,169,730. Gettering. S.A.E.S. GETTERS S.p.A. 30 Dec., 1966 [8 July, 1966; 1 Dec., 1966], No.58437/66. Heading H1D. A getter assembly for colour television tubes for instance comprises an annular channelled getter container 1, a disc or annular shaped thermally insulating ceramic support 3 on which the container is mounted and a coupling element 2 between the container and the support. The support may be of silicate or silica such as sillimanite or steatite which absorbs gaseous phase hydrocarbons and acts as a screen for barium vapours for example. Protrusions 5 and collar 7 ensure minimum contact and spacing between the coupling element and the support, while the raised outer border spot welded to container 1 has four radial tongues 6 clamped to support 2. The element 2 may be in washer form with the inner border bent down into a hole in support 2 to clamp the two together (Figs. 1a-1b, not shown), or in disc form with a central cylindrical flange with an annular groove on to which element 2 is inserted (Figs. 2a-2b, not shown). The element 2 in washer form may have three radial arms spot welded to container 1 (Figs. 3a-3b, not shown) or may consist of one elastic arm only (Figs. 4a-4b, not shown). Fixing tongue 4 may be spot welded on the coupling plate 2 or can be part of same.
