Abstract

1,169,711. Measuring resistivity. SOUTH LONDON ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. May 12, 1967 [May 12, 1966], No.21150/66. Heading G1U. In measuring resistivity, e.g. of a semiconductor material f, current pulses are passed through the material via probes i and the voltage between two other probes d is converted into a reading of resistivity in a digital voltmeter c. The leading edge of each pulse in a pulse train 2 supplied by a pulse generator a triggers a second pulse generator g which produces pulses longer than the pulses 2 but shorter than the recurrence period thereof, and the output pulses of the generator g cause a unit h to deliver pulses of stabilized constant current of the same duration to the probes i. The stabilized current is produced by a comparator circuit l which equalizes the current across a precision resistor m and a stabilized voltage V derived from a potential divider j and a Zener diode. The voltmeter c is respectively triggered and reset by the leading and trailing edges of the pulses in a pulse train 1, this being the inverse of train 2, and averages out the voltages across the probes d.
