Abstract
1,169,514. Testing pillows. FOGARTY ARIEL PRODUCTS Ltd. 31 March, 1967 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 7477/66. Heading A4M. Pillow testing apparatus comprises a cast of a human head supported on a rod 2 with a pan 8 loaded with weights 7 to represent appropriate sex or age groups and pillow deflection is measured by a pointer 5 and scale 6. Several pillows with differing filling compositions are tested and the composition giving a required deflection is selected for subsequent manufacture. Deflections are measured both before and after pummeling the pillows in an apparatus (Figs. 2, 3) for artificially ageing the pillow.
