Abstract

1,169,384. Electric couplings. GENERAL CABLE CORP. 23 Feb., 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 8615/67. Heading H2E. A video pair cable terminal construction comprises a housing 30 receiving the end of a sheathed, screened insulated cable pair 14, and a receptacle 26 with female sockets 66, 68 for connection to the conductors 38, 39 of the cable pair. Conductors 38, 39 and earthing conductor 46 are soldered at 52 to metal inserts of a hermetic seal 50 in housing 30 which is screwed to an earthed mounting plate 32. Receptacle 26 is separately fastened to the mounting plate, but insulated from it by insulating gasket 80 and bushings 86 surrounding fastening screws 76. Earthing conductor 46 lies along the insulation 40 of the cable pair, in contact with screen 42, and is connected with a copper ring 70 in contact with metal outer easing 74 of receptacle 26. A plurality of cable pairs (14) each ending in a housing (30) on mounting plate (32) pass through respective copper tubings (28) to a hollow manifold (20) to which lead sheath (12) of the cable is soldered (Fig. 1, not shown). If desired, bushings 86 may be omitted.
