Abstract
1,168,903. Container loading by supporting jacks. W. E. & F. DOBSON Ltd. 15 March, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 15505/67. Heading B8E. A container 1, or other load supporting structure such as a base frame, platform or chassis, or a room has hydraulic jack legs 2b, 4b on two opposite sides pivotally connected by arms 15, 16 to brackets 17, 18 at the bottom of recesses 8, 10 in the container 1. Each arm 15, 16 has a depending plate 19, 20 to which is connected the ram 21, 22 of hydraulic jacks 23, 24. The jacks 23, 24 are preferably in the same hydraulic circuit as the jacks 2b, 4b so that from the position, Fig. 6, in which the container 1 is supported by the jack legs for a vehicle to be driven under it the legs contract to lower the container and then the jacks 23, 24 act to swing the cylinders 2a, 4a into the recesses 8, 10. During this movement the plates 19, 20 will contact the side of the vehicle girder 13 so that the jack 23, 24 will position the container laterally of the vehicle while in the final position the feet 2c, 4c will engage the underside of the girder 13 to hold the container on the vehicle during transport.
