1,168,147. Textile treating apparatus. ETABS. BARRIQUAND FRERES S.a.r.L. 31 Oct., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 49366/67. Heading D1L. Apparatus for wet-treating fabrics comprises a cylindrical vat 2. having a horizontal axis and injection nozzles 25-32 fed by a pump recirculating the bath liquid through suction nozzles, e.g. perforated pipes 17, 18, disposed inside squirrel cage rotors 10, 12 which rotate at a speed substantially equal to that of the bath liquid, over which the fabric passes in non-slipping engagement and which cause spreading out and relatively rapid movement of one section of the fabric, while the remainder moves relatively slowly and is sinusoidally folded in a deposit zone at the bottom of the vat. Circulation of the fabric is effected by movement of the path, aided by the rotors. As shown, sinusoidal folding is effected by nozzles 30 and 32, the former of which operates only intermittently. A support 6 may be provided which separates the folded and unfolded zones of the material, channels its movement in the bath and prevents, by virtue of its inclined face, the rising of the folds to the surface. The vat may be divided into compartments (Fig. 2) for treating several lengths of material, and one end of the vat may be a removable cover, to which are attached all the internal parts 6-12, on a wheeled carriage.
